Special Education and Pupil Services

The Special Education and Pupil Services Department administers eight major functions as follows: Community Day School, Early Childhood Programs, Extended Day Programs, Health Services, Inter-district Transfers, Psychological Services, Student Records, and Special Education. Early childhood programs include Jump Start! the district’s fee-based preschool program, the First 5 School Readiness Program, Special Education, Neighborhood School and the State Funded Preschool Programs. The School Readiness Program office is located at Anza Elementary School and the State Preschool Office is located at Sevick School.

Community Day School

The Community Day School is an alternative school consisting of four classrooms located at the District office. Up to sixty students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade who have not been successful at comprehensive middle school sites attend the Community Day School program. More information

Early Childhood Programs

The Cajon Valley Union School District currently offers free and fee-based preschool programs for families who meet income or other eligibility criteria. These include the First 5 School Readiness Program, JumpStart!, Neighborhood School, State Funded Preschool and Special Education preschool programs. More information

Extended Day Program
Cajon Valley’s Extended Day Program provides a wide range of supervised, creative, recreational, and educational activities that assist in the social, emotional, creative, and physical development of children. The program, governed and regulated by the Cajon Valley Union School District, Special Education and Pupil Services has both fee-based and subsidized programs. More information

Health Services

The Health Services Department’s major area of focus is to keep students happy, healthy, and in school. Each school site’s health office is staffed with a health aide who works at the site five days a week. School nurses as assigned on an itinerant basis, and supervise the health office when they are on campus. The principal provides supervision when the nurse is off-campus. More information


Inter-District Transfers

These are transfers from one District to another District which must originate from the district of residence. Outgoing transfers should contact Pupil Services at (619) 588-3054 and incoming transfers should call (619) 590-2789. More information

Psychological Services

The psychological services department includes both certificated and classified staff. Psychologists are assigned to school sites. More information

Student Records

Federal and state laws grant certain rights of privacy and rights of access to students and to their parents. Full access to all personally identifiable written records maintained by the District must be granted to natural parents, adoptive parents, or legal guardians of students younger than 18. Such access will be provided no later than five business days following the date of the written request. More information

Special Education

Special Education students are those students who have been assessed and identified as individuals with exceptional needs by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team.
