The experiences children have during the first five years are critical for proper brain development and building a foundation for future learning. A child’s lifelong attitude toward learning can be enhanced by positive early learning experiences. Preschool teaches children how to listen, pay attention, interact with others, develop thinking skills, express themselves, improve coordination, and prepare for reading and math.

The Cajon Valley Union School District (CVUSD) has a long history of providing developmentally appropriate and academically rich preschool services to children and families. The district has operated state funded preschools (SFPP), special education preschools/Early Start programs and other early childhood programs for over 20 years with the goal of providing young children with experiences needed to become successful learners in kindergarten and support parents in their efforts to get children ready for school.

The Cajon Valley Union School District currently offers free and fee-based preschool programs for families who meet income or other eligibility criteria. These include JumpStart!, State Funded Preschool and Special Education preschool programs.
