The Community Day School is an alternative school consisting of four classrooms located at the District office. Up to sixty students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade who have not been successful at comprehensive middle school sites attend the Community Day School program. Smaller class size allows for intensive instruction using the core, alternative core, or supplemental curriculum based on student needs. Additionally, students participate in social group, individual counseling, and daily recreational activities. The goal of Community Day School is to provide students the level of support they need in order to be successful both academically and behaviorally so that they can return to a comprehensive middle school or high school campus.
The philosophy at Community Day School is to assist each student in reaching his or her full potential. Teachers are available to provide assistance with academics, study-skills and test-taking techniques, scheduling, and career exploration. At Community Day School, we develop skilled communicators and problem solvers who are responsible, educated contributors to society.
