Public School Choice

All parents/guardians of students attending a Program Improvement (PI) school have the right to request a transfer of their child(ren) to a non-Program Improvement school (within the district) with district-paid transportation.

For parents/guardians who select this option, the district will provide transportation to the non-Program Improvement school for as long as the home school continues to be identified as a PI School. If the home school exits PI by making AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) for two consecutive years, the student can remain at the school; however, transportation will no longer be district-paid. If the demand for choice exceeds funds available, priority will be given to lowest achieving, low-income students.

If you are interested in transferring your child(ren) to a non-Program Improvement school in the district for the 2011-12 school year, see the school choice document links below. Please note, only students attending schools in Program Improvement are eligible for an NCLB transfer.

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Tutoring Services

The purpose of SES is to provide tutoring to students enrolled in schools that are in the second year of improvement, corrective action, or restructuring at no charge to the family. The goal of SES is to increase eligible student's academic achievement in reading/language arts, mathematics, and science, as well as English language proficiency for students with limited English proficiency.

In 2010-2011 Cajon Valley Union School District offers the services of thirty-two state-approved providers to students from the following schools:

  • Anza School
  • Bostonia School
  • Chase School
  • Johnson School
  • Lexington School
  • Naranca School
  • Cajon Valley Middle School
  • Emerald Middle School
  • Greenfield Middle School
  • Montgomery Middle School

See list of providers approved to serve eligible students in eligible schools at Cajon Valley Union School District, and those providers able to service students with disabilities and English learners.

At this time, the deadline for applying for Supplemental Educational Services has passed.
