PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (Phase 2)

The bid for HVAC replacements at Emerald, Flying Hills, Fuerte, Johnson, Magnolia, and Rancho San Diego has been awarded. Work will be completed this summer.

Lexington Elementary School

Pre-planning work is beginning for the rebuilding of Lexington Elementary.

Modernization – Rancho San Diego

Staff is continuing to work with Sprotte + Watson Architecture & Planning and The Augustine Company to refine cost estimates and define the scope of work. It is estimated that construction will begin in July 2012.

Modernization – Vista Grande

Staff is continuing to work with Sprotte + Watson Architecture & Planning and The Augustine Company to refine cost estimates and define the scope of work. It is estimated that construction will begin in July 2012.

New Gymnasium/ Multipurpose Bldg – Greenfield

Abatement was completed over winter break. Demolition was completed in April 2011. The construction plans were approved by the Division of the State Architect (DSA) on 6/8/11. Staff will meet with Hamann Construction on 6/22/11 to review the final bids and pricing based on the revised DSA plans. It is anticipated that the Notice to Proceed for construction will be issued on 6/23/11.

Playground Upgrades

(Phase 2)

Playground projects were completed at Anza, Blossom Valley, WD Hall, and Naranca. Funds have been set aside for possible accessibility (path of travel) enhancements if needed.

Rebuild – Cajon Valley M.S.

Construction of the new 2-Story Classroom/ Multipurpose Building is nearly complete. The new building will be ready for occupancy in August for the start of the 2011/2012 school year.

Security Cameras

Security camera installations at Cajon Valley Middle School are being coordinated with the new building project.

Technology (Phase 1)

Sprotte-Watson Architecture, along with Turpin & Ruttan Engineering, has been hired to evaluate the existing infrastructure at each school and to develop a schedule of improvements needed to support the classroom technology recommendations of the Instructional Technology Committee. The final report will be completed in September 2011 and will include the scope of work needed at each site, as well as the related costs. There has been some high-priority work completed ahead of schedule at Emerald (due to the school’s magnet program for Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and at Cajon Valley Middle School (in coordination with their new building program). Technology upgrade work will be completed over the summer at Madison Elementary due to the school’s “21st Century” partnership with the University of San Diego.
